Boston College is the oldest higher education institution in Boston and has consistent placement into the top investment banks. BC sends the vast majority of its investment banking hires into bulgebracket firms, with a sizable number going to Citi. We filtered the data to examine U.S. hires into the top investment banks.
Founded in 1800, Middlebury College is the oldest higher education institution in Vermont. Morgan and Barclays and sends 91% of hires into bulgebrackets. Accordingly, Middlebury has very little representation at the elite boutique firms. We note that Middlebury sends the largest number of hires to J.P.
Penn State is home to the Smeal School of Business , a well-regarded educational institution offering business programs for both undergraduates and graduates. Penn State sends the vast majority (96%) of its investment banking hires to bulgebrackets. Penn State ranks #28 for Total Hires and #49 for Undergrad Placement %.
Duke provides a very well-rounded education and has a history of consistent placement into finance. We also note that Duke sends the vast majority of its hires to the BulgeBracket firms, with a large proportion of hires going to J.P. Duke sends only 12% to Elite Boutiques and has no presence at many of the top elite boutiques.
Investment Banking Experience at BulgeBracket or Top Domestic Banks – As with PE anywhere, you need a few years of IB experience to be competitive in most cases. Working at the bulgebrackets or elite boutiques is better for international funds, while IB experience at the top Chinese banks (CICC, CITIC, Huatai, Haitong, etc.)
